Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre has welcomed Latrobe Regional Hospital as an inaugural Associate Partner and primary regional health services member, strengthening our capacity and capability to achieve better regional community health outcomes within Victoria.
Latrobe Regional Hospital joins current Partners of Alfred Health, Monash Health, Monash University, Cabrini Health, Epworth HealthCare, Eastern Health, Peninsula Health, Burnet Institute, Hudson Institute and Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and Associate Partner, La Trobe University.
Accredited by the National Health and Medical Research Council in 2015 as an Advanced Health Research Translation Centre, Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre is an innovative partnership between leading health services, teaching and research organisations, and has been supporting the health and wellbeing of around three million Australians since 2011.
Executive Director of Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, Professor Helena Teede said this new partnership presents an opportunity to extend the current reach and deliver impact to those from rural/regional backgrounds.
“Partnering with Latrobe Regional Hospital provides us with an avenue to increase research engagement, clinical research, access and translation in a rural and regional area with a diverse and rich demographic population base. This will complement new and existing research and improve on rural health,” said Professor Teede.
“These are very significant times for Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre, where the integration of research improving healthcare has arguably never been so vital,” Professor Teede said.
Latrobe Regional Hospital Acting Executive Director Education, Training and Research, Anita Raymond said the oversight and support of leading healthcare providers and respected academic institutions would elevate the hospital’s research ambitions.
“Our vision is to drive research for real change in the health and wellbeing of our community. While there has been so much good work in the past, we really want to build our capacity in clinical research and trials which will greatly improve the quality of care for people in Gippsland. The support of Monash Partners Academic Health Science Centre therefore is vital,” she said.
