The Migrant and Refugee Health Partnership, in collaboration with Monash Partners, has developed a free online course focusing on culturally responsive practice for health professionals in health and aged care settings when working with older people from migrant and refugee populations.
The challenges that face Australia’s culturally and linguistically diverse population are exacerbated when an individual is considered an older person. Older people from migrant and refugee backgrounds experience substantial challenges in accessing and experiencing health and aged care services in Australia. These challenges need to be addressed, as the proportion of older Australians with a migrant background is growing.
This course is suitable for all clinicians and health practitioners, with material designed to support ongoing professional development whilst being mapped against a range of relevant professional and service standards.
Course details:
- Covers a variety of healthcare settings and scenarios, including residential care and end-of-life settings
- Attracts CPD points through several peak bodies (ACRRM, RANZCOG, ANMF plus more to come)
- Created in collaboration with migrant and refugee communities, healthcare professionals, and leading health researchers from Monash University
- Includes interactive content, animations, quizzes and reflective tasks, and resources for further reading.
