Message from the new Executive Director Professor Carol Hodgson

Welcome to 2024, and my first message as Executive Director.

It is an absolute privilege to be in this role and leading a partnership with a strong history of collaboration to deliver health impact. Through my clinical work as a Specialist Physiotherapist and research leadership of clinical trials and cohort studies, I know the value of partnerships between clinicians, researchers and consumers to achieve evidence-based care, informed by research questions grounded in clinical practice.

It is a credit to the leadership of Professor Helena Teede that Monash Partners finds itself in a strong position to embed research into our health system through partnerships spanning health services, universities, research institutes, state government, philanthropic organisations and consumer and community groups.

Over the last few weeks I have had the pleasure of meeting with some of our stakeholders. It has been wonderful to hear about their past involvement and future innovations. I look forward to catching up with more people within the Monash Partners network over the coming months.

Looking to priorities for 2024, our main focus will be delivering an updated Monash Partners strategic plan with a post pandemic lens, seeking broad engagement to address the priorities of our Partners.

We will continue to focus on our Themes and Platforms, driving key systems in data driven healthcare improvement, consumer and community involvement, health services research and implementation, and clinical research facilitation. We have two events taking place over the next few weeks which I encourage all to attend, see below:

Health Studies Australian National Data Asset (HeSANDA) network event

Workshop to inform Review of the National Statement on Consumer and Community Involvement in Health and Medical Research (the Statement)

I look forward to continuing to support the integration of research and translation into healthcare to deliver impact.

Should you have anything you wish to discuss, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

In health,

Professor Carol Hodgson
