The Australian Health Research Alliance (AHRA) is the voice of the nation’s 12 accredited Research Translation Centres and two Emerging Centres. We are delighted that Western Alliance Academic Health Science Centre (in Victoria’s Western District) was accredited as a Research Translation Centre for the first time earlier this month, in recognition of their expertise in translating health and medical research into improved healthcare in regional and rural areas. AHRA’s vision is growing research within healthcare, advocating for enhanced research translation and evidence-based healthcare.
In a recent statement, NHMRC CEO, Professor Steve Wesselingh highlighted that collaboration was at the centre of research translation.
“Translating research outcomes into patient care is critical to improving the health of Australians. Research Translation Centres bring together the partnerships that make that possible. NHMRC accreditation recognises the strength of these collaborations,” said Professor Wesselingh.
Professor Wesselingh will further highlight the importance of research translation in Melbourne on November 14th at our upcoming Monash Partners Symposium CONNECT | SUPPORT | IMPACT 2030. He will provide insights and perspectives around the challenges and opportunities for the Research Translation Centres and we will unveil our strategic vision from now until 2030. Professor Wesselingh will also award our inaugural EMCR awards highlighting the strength of research from young scientists, clinicians and researchers across Monash Partners. REGISTER HERE.
We look forward to continuing to share learnings, and expanding and accelerating research translation to deliver better health for our community.
