From the Executive Director: Championing women in health, research and innovation

Earlier this month I had the pleasure of joining a panel of trail-blazing women from across Monash University to mark International Women’s Day. The event, held at the Clayton campus and streamed to colleagues across Monash’s global network, was a valuable opportunity to reflect on the progress we have made and the work still ahead to achieve gender equity in academia, healthcare and research.

At Monash Partners, we proudly recognise and support the vital contributions of women across health, medical research and innovation. Our network is strengthened by the leadership and expertise of women at every level, including our dedicated administrative team who lead key programs in data, healthcare improvement, and consumer and community involvement, to name a few.

Supporting emerging and established women leaders is also central to our work. Through initiatives such as our Strategic Translation and Research (STAR) Program – where the majority of current fellows (13) are women – we are helping clinical academics build strong and sustainable career pathways. We are equally proud of the breadth of research led across our Women’s Health clinical theme, which spans critical areas including reproductive health, pregnancy and fertility, gestational diabetes, menopause, obesity prevention and healthy ageing.

By championing equity and fostering inclusive research and translation, Monash Partners is committed to creating an environment where women can thrive, lead and shape the future of healthcare. The insights, expertise and leadership of women are essential to improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.
