Module 4

Finding Consumers

Consumer and Community Involvement position descriptions

Consider the qualities you are looking for in a consumer before recruiting, and always create a position description.

Creating a position description increases understanding and provides clarity about the consumer's role. It also helps manage the expectations of the consumer and the project team.  See below for samples of position descriptions for consumer representatives.

When selecting a consumer to participate in a project, it is useful to have a position description that can be used to advertise the role and ensure the role is clearly defined for both the consumer and researcher/health professional. Clear role descriptions also make assessments for impact and evaluation clearer and easier.
